Record Crowds For Aberdeen Day 2009
Aberdeen Day 2009 attracted record crowds to Matawan Regional High School on Saturday, September 26. The five-hour event drew approximately 3,500 people of all ages who enjoyed entertainment by doo-wop group Special Request, Rebound Gymnastics, contestants from this year’s Matawan-Aberdeen Idol competition and the Matawan Regional High School Marching Band.
Children’s rides and activities, the classic car show, crafts fair and exhibits by area non-profit organizations, businesses, the town’s DARE and CERT programs and Matawan Regional High School student organizations rounded out the day. This year’s event also featured a record 101 vendors (30 more than in past years) and eight food vendors offering a variety of refreshments.
Aberdeen Day 2009 would like to thank its many sponsors including: Columbia Bank, Rogurt & McCarthy Counselors At Law, CME Associates, Coppola & Coppola Associates, The Aberdeen Matawan Chamber of Commerce, and the Northern Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce whose support helped to make possible increased entertainment and free children’s rides.
