The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert for Tropical Storm Fay which is expected to impact coastal New Jersey throughout the day today. The main threat from this system will be tropical storm force winds, which can be 39 miles per hour or greater, and heavy rains. These conditions are expected to occur near the coastline and over coastal waters. Up to 4 inches of rain is possible with this system.

A flash flood warning is in effect through Friday afternoon. As always, residents and motorists are advised not to drive through flooded roadways and stay away from all downed power lines. All power outages should be called into Jersey Central Power and Light Company at 1-888-544-4877.

            Sewer Division

Aberdeen Township operates over 70 miles of gravity sewer mains and 15 pumping sewage stations.

All sewage collected is pumped to Bayshore Regional Sewage Authority (BRSA). The sewer division is vigilant about keeping excess flows out of the sewer system.

All residents can help the town run a more efficient system and help keep costs down by following the following:

            1. Sump pumps roof leaders are a problem when they are tied into the sanitary sewer system. All excess water that is pumped to BRSA is paid for by the rate payers. By keeping the excess flows out of the system the Township is able to keep prices down

            2. Grease in the sewer system is also a problem. By not putting grease in the system less blockages will occur in the system and less grease will build up in the pump stations
