ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP REMINDS RESIDENTS OF PLASTIC RECYCLING RULES
ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP (8/5/10) – The Aberdeen Township Department of Public Works is reminding residents of the town’s requirements for the recycling of plastics.
According to the township’s recycling rules, plastic bottles with the number 1 or 2 symbol on the bottom must be recycled along with glass and cans.
“We have found that some residents are confused about what types of plastic items should be recycled,” said Aberdeen Director of Public Works Bob Brady. “The only plastic items that should be included in the monthly recycling pick-up are bottles with a neck that is smaller than the body.”
For example, bottles for soda, juices, milk, shampoo, laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies must be recycled. Plastic items like yogurt cups or cream cheese containers should be placed in the regular garbage.
