JOINT PRESS RELEASE
The Aberdeen and Matawan Police Departments are investigating two early morning burglaries of occupied dwellings in recent months. Both burglaries involved a physical altercation between the suspect and the occupants, and are believed to have been committed by the same person. The incidents occurred in the Tree Haven Village III apartment complex in Aberdeen in May, and the Marc Hampton complex in Matawan in August. Detectives from both towns are conducting a joint investigation due to the similarities and close proximities. Residents are encouraged to lock all doors and windows prior to retiring for the evening. A light should also be left on to discourage any potential intruders. In addition, residents are reminded to always be alert of their surroundings, and to park their vehicles in well it areas whenever possible. Please report any and all suspicious activity to either police department. Specific information regarding these incidents should be provided to Matawan Detective Joe Lovallo at 732-290-2038, or Aberdeen Detective Hank Chevalier at 732-566-2054.
Press Contact: Lt. Joseph Cole at 732-566-2054 or Lt. Jason Gallo at 732-290-2025.
