ABERDEEN SENIORS 50 AND OVER INVITED TO REPRESENT TOWNSHIP AT 2010 NEW JERSEY SENIOR OLYMPICS
ABERDEEN, N.J. (7/20/10) —Aberdeen residents 50 and over are invited to represent the township at the 2010 New Jersey Senior Olympics (NJSO) in Woodbridge Township from September 10-12.
The NJSO features 16 sporting events geared to senior competition, including basketball (accuracy and foul shooting/3-on-3), billiards, bocce, bowling, horseshoes, golf, racquetball, swimming, tennis, team softball, cycling, archery, darts, fencing, table tennis, and track and field.
The NJSO is part of the National Senior Games Association, which sponsors alternate year national Senior Olympic games at venues across the country. Athletes participating in the 2010 games in Woodbridge will use the competition to qualify for the 2010 National Senior Olympic games in Houston, Texas.
The events will take place on fields and facilities in and around Woodbridge, including the YMCA at the Woodbridge Community Center, The Club at Woodbridge, the Woodbridge High School running track and event fields, and county and municipal parks and private venues.
All events are open to New Jersey residents and out-of-state athletes who are age 50 or older as of December 21, 2010. There are male and female competition groups in all events. Competition will take place in the following age divisions: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, and 90+
The cost to register is $25.00 for up to three events. Some events will have additional fees. A limited number of sponsorships will be available for Aberdeen residents courtesy of the Aberdeen business community.
