ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP TO START SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING APRIL 4
ABERDEEN, N.J. (4/3/2012)—Single stream recycling will begin in Aberdeen Township on Wednesday, April 4 in the Cliffwood Beach, Cliffwood, River Gardens, Oakshades, Freneau and Heritage Estates sections.
This will be followed on Wednesday, April 11, throughout all Strathmore sections, the High School area, as well as the Woodbrook Drive, Randall Way, Storyland, Sante Fe and Heather Glen neighborhoods.
According to Aberdeen Public Works Director Bob Brady, with the advent of single-stream recycling, homeowners will enjoy the benefits of having all recyclables picked up at curbside twice a month instead of the previous once-a-month pick-up of bottles, cans and plastics, followed by newspapers, mixed paper and cardboard two weeks later. Regular trash pick-up will remain on the same twice-weekly schedule.
Brady explained that there will be no changes to what must be recycled and how it should be placed at the curb. Cardboard, mixed paper and newspapers must be broken down and bundled. Mixed paper (magazines, circulars and other “junk mail,” telephone books, and all other paper products) must be placed in a closed container. If desired, the mixed papers can be placed in clear plastic bag within the container. Plastic milk, soda, water, detergent, and juice bottles (marked #1 and #2) must be included with glass and cans.
Residents will also be able to continue to drop off their recyclables at the Public Works Garage on Lenox Rd., off Cliffwood Ave., Monday through Saturday, from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and at the Aberdeen Town Hall parking lot on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
